It's been a long time in coming, but now we have it. A repair kit for your Sony D Board.
For the past few years Sony has been producing some of the most
cutting edge television sets in the market place. But at this level
of technology and features comes the problem of repair. In a
simpler chassis you may have only a few power supplies. But
in this one you literally have them cascading from board to
board and circuit to circuit. And to compound the problem the
construction of the board is double sided in some of the early versions.
What does this mean for you as a DYI'er or myself a professional repair tech? Money savings! and lots of it.
But it does take into account several failures that have been seen by Sony. But if you use the methods described in the instructions, you can do it, just as we do. Now for the bad news. Due to the history of the failures, these are not a guaranteed fix in all cases. But they have been common enough to list them as kits.
D Board Kit #1 (base kit)<$50.00 Varies by model If you get 7 flashes then 4 flashes after you turn the set on. This is the kit for you.
D Board Kit #2 (expanded kit)<$80.00 Varies by model You may get 2 or 6 or 7 flashes after you unplug the set. This one is a very common failure. More so than kit #1.
